About
Agni
A native English speaker, he was born in Darjeeling, India and attended India’s premier boarding school, The Doon School, growing up in the British schooling tradition.
His varied achievements included being the Captain of his House, Secretary of the School Music Society and Editor-in-Chief of the school’s Yearbook. Upon graduation, he was selected to represent The Global Education & Leadership foundation as an International Scholar and a Member of their Global Leaders Forum.
He was hand-picked as a Trustee Scholar in 2014 by the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, where he successfully completed double degrees in Economics and Film & TV Production, at the same time. His degree in Film is from the prestigious School of Cinematic Arts, USC and the degree in Economics is from the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, USC. His GPA in film is an outstanding 3.8 out of a possible 4 and he received the Gold Medal for the Thematic Options Honors Program.

His application film to USC, Minolta (2015), was chosen as the Best Short Film at the 2016 Chandigarh International Film Festival in India. The submission was by invitation and the only festival it was entered into. At the School of Cinematic Arts, he wrote and directed 3 films, including Luna(r)tic (2016) & Requiem (2016), was cinematographer and editor for Nice Guy (2018), producer & sound designer for Strings Attached (2017) and writer for The Fringes (2018).
The Fringes (2018), produced by the University of Southern California is a futuristic short film, conceived and written by Agni. It was well-received in film festivals across the US. The film deals with the takeover of Social Security responsibilities, by monolithic corporations, while showcasing a society where ‘disconnect’ is the officially approved state of existence. The film addresses the issue of a single black woman, living in normalized isolation and her journey of reintegration into the world of human societal interaction, which has now been relegated to the fringes.

Agni recently conceived and directed the music video for the CID and Anabel Englund single, Use Me Up (2018). A commentary on the environmental and societal consequences of rampant consumerism, the film follows the theme of “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle” and was specially designed to use stock footage and VFX, instead of newly created content, giving it the smallest possible carbon footprint. The design component was an homage to the celebrated anti-consumerist work of visual artist Barbara Kruger.

Agni recently undertook Brand Strategy, Marketing & Original Content Development for The Young Vets. A basketball-oriented Non-Profit, Young Vets facilitates holistic self-development for student-athletes, making them personally and professionally suited to face the modern world without pigeonholing their talents. Agni’s efforts included creating scripted Ad content, conceptualizing a Docu-Series, outlining the Brand’s Narrative and crafting sponsorship decks for the organization.
Agni currently works as Creative Director of a digital media & artist management company in Los Angeles, USA.
He also does Branding, Marketing & Content Creation for a Silicon Valley based Global NGO. He is multi-lingual but his writings, whether poetry, prose or scripting are mostly in English.
Agni is also a trained pianist and dancer.
